Get Involved
What You Need to Know About Getting Involved with the Medical Humanities at UTA
The medical humanities is a growing field, not only here at UTA but in the greater medical environment as a whole. This subject has been acknowledged as a fundamental aspect of medical education by The New York Times, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), and many medical schools and colleges around the nation. Here at UTA, it is also a rapidly growing program that began with a single course and has evolved to encompass a certificate program, upcoming minor, student organization, annual symposium, and of course, Stimulus. With all of these opportunities and branches of the growing program, we are always looking for students to get more involved! On this page you will find ways to get involved either via our certificate program coursework or our student organization, Mavericks for Medical Humanities!
Join us every other Friday from noon to 1:00 pm for our General Body Meetings! You can learn more about specific meeting dates by visiting our Teams channel or our Instagram page.

The Certificate Program
The undergraduate certificate in medical humanities aims to integrate humanities scholarship and training in health-related fields. The interdisciplinary certificate approaches medical issues—such as illness, treatment, disability, death, and health policy—from historical, philosophical, literary, and cultural perspectives.
